Webb, Carl Bentley – (November 15, 1970 – February 5, 2015). Ben passed away at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre with his family by his side. He was the son of Mabel Webb and the late Sidney Webb. He is survived by his mother, Mabel; brother, Darrell (Cathy) Corkum, Wayne (Star) Corkum and Andrew (Lisa) Webb; sisters, Yvonne (Reg) Rushton, Nancy (Charlie) MacQueen, Irene (Brent) Schramm and special sister, Angela Burton; sister-in-law, Marie Corkum; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Sidney and brother, Alan. Ben spent his first working years as a farmhand both in NS and BC. For a few years he owned and operated a bar in Vancouver. When he returned to NS he took a position with Convergys. Most recently, he found his true calling working for the Northwestern Company as a store manager which led him to posting in what became his “second home”, Deer Lake. Ben truly did live life to its fullest right up to his last days. We never knew what adventure he would be up to next, travelling, running a marathon or searching for the next winning racehorse to buy. To his family, friends and those who were lucky enough to know him, he was our rock, our personal wikipedia of knowledge and the person we could always depend on. The work he selflessly did for the benefit of others will be the legacy he leaves behind, along with his attitude of not worrying about what “might be”, but living for what “is”. To honor Ben’s wishes, the family will hold a gathering of remembrance on Wednesday, February 11 from 6 – 8 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, to whom his remains have been entrusted.
