ROVERS, Mary Jeanette
Age 76, of Stewiacke, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 8th, 2016 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born on July 11th, 1940 in Inverness. She was a loving wife to Leo Rovers of 52 years and the mother of Adrian, Chris (Tina), Leona (Sinclair) Verboom, Laurie (Andrew) Poehl and the grandmother of Brandon, Matthew, Evan, Selaina, Hayden, Jenna and great grandson Kyle. Mary was the daughter of the late Mary Christie and Dan Lawrence MacDonald. She is survived by siblings, Pauline MacMillan, Leonard (June) MacDonald, Barbara (Joe) Landry, Donalda Picco, Gerard (Elizabeth) MacDonald, Hughenia Picco, Sandra Cogger as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Margaret MacDonnell, Irene MacIsaac, Cathy Cogger, Donald B. MacDonald, Lawrence MacDonald, and Bert MacDonald. Mary started out her life in Little Judique Ponds. She then danced her way into Leo’s heart in Pomquet in 1962. After they married in 1964, they ran the family farm in Heatherton and then moved to Stewiacke in 1972. Mary helped Leo start up the construction company in 1975. They have resided in their home on the Stewiacke River Park Road where they raised all four of their children and where Mary got to spoil her grandchildren. Mary was loved by many. She had an open heart and always made you feel welcome. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14th from 2-4, 6-8pm with prayers at 7:45pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 15th at 11am in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince St., Truro. Father Dariusz Miskowicz will officiate with a Reception to follow in Campbell Hall. Interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory be made to the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or a charity of your choice.
