Obituary for Nicholas "Nick" Whidden

Whidden, Nicholas Harley, 77, Truro/Bible Hill, passed away peacefully, February 20, 2017 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Greenfield, he was the son of the late Hubert and Edna (Johnson) Whidden. Nicholas worked at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in Bible Hill for 28 years. He enjoyed many hobbies; many acquired from reading. His top hobbies were astronomy and photography. He loved to play guitar and listen to country music. He also had his Radio Amateur License. He liked to play and coach softball. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Della Mae (Atkinson); children, Roger (Carolyn), Wesley (Tammy), Terry (Heather), Nikki (Barry) Haner; eight grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Shirley and Alberta; brothers, Gordon, Bud, Frank and Ira. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25th from 6 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7 p.m., all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Ken Banks officiating. Interment in Greenfield Cemetery in the spring. Special thanks to the Palliative Care nursing staff at the Truro hospital.
