Cassidy, Michael Patrick, age 82, of Greenfield, Colchester County. Michael passed away peacefully on March 15, 2017, in the Palliative Care Unit of Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Michael was born in Pugwash, N.S., April 2, 1934 and was the son of the late Earnest and Em Cassidy of Truro. Michael worked most of his life as an accountant at the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board in Bible Hill. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed game hunting as well as river and lake fishing with his sons and his brother Robert as well as friends, Ross and Ed Knight and Edgar Johnson. He spent much of this time at his Folly Lake cottage. He was a competitive skeet shooter during the 70's winning many Maritime competitions and competing at the 1972 world championship in Buffalo N.Y. He also competed in the 1976 Olympic trials in Montreal. He enjoyed camping with his wife and children at various beaches and campgrounds in Maine and the Maritimes. Michael was noted for his quick wit and sense of humor. He spent many of his retired years volunteering at the Truro Legion. Michael is survived by his spouse of 60 years, Jean (Maxner), and his sons Greg (Shelley) of Corner Brook, Nfld, Mike Jr. of Truro, NS, Chris of Truro, NS, and Stephen (Brenda) of Kensington, PEI. He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew, Phillip, Ashleigh, Michelle, Christina, Lindsay, Nathaniel and Lauren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jim and Robert, and his sister, Margery. A special thank you to Palliative Care nurse, Ann McKenna, Dr. Henderson, Dr. Slipp, the VON, and the nurses and doctors of the Palliative Care Unit at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18 from 2-4pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Spring Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery.
