Obituary for Mary "Jean" Worsley

Mary "Jean" Worsley
Mary Jeanette “Jean” Worsley – 83, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, surrounded by the love of her family. Born October 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John and Marie (Marchand) Aucoin. Jean became interested in music from an early age while living in Armdale. She became a member of the Rhythmal Band and eventually became a member of the Armdale Chorus under the direction of the late Mary Dee Girroir. Jean carried this love of music throughout her life. Whenever there was a get together, music was always present. Jean’s greatest asset was her beautiful personality and smile. She welcomed everyone with open arms. She was a meticulous homemaker and was very devoted to her faith. In 1954, she married Flying Officer Don Worsley who was serving with the RCAF. Transfers through the service had them stationed in Greenwood and St. John’s, NFLD. After service life, Jean, Don and their family returned to Halifax only to be on the move again a few years later to Amherst, Moncton, NB and London, Ont. They returned to Nova Scotia in 1975 and settled in Truro Heights. Throughout these travels, Jean developed lifelong friendships. Jean is survived by daughter, Patricia (Andy) Lyall, Enfield; sons, Donald (Vickie), Brentwood, Michael (Angela), Onslow, John (Cathie), Hilden; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters, Yvonne (Frank) McGrath, Shirley (Doug) Bell; brother, John (Irene) Aucoin; many nieces and nephews. Jean will especially be missed by her lifelong friend, Pauletta Theriault. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by husband, Donald; sister, Arlene and grandson, Jason. A special thank you to Cedarstone Enhanced Care and the angels on Garden Road for their care. A Funeral Mass in Thanksgiving and Celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Friday, May 5 at 11am in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince St., Truro, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Reception to follow in Campbell Hall. Interment will be held at a later time. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Online messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting: www.ColchesterCommunity.com
