Obituary for John Kent

John  Kent
John Hedley Kent – 78, Lower Truro, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Hedley and Alice (Clarke) Kent. John was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Cobequid District Fire Brigade and was their first fire chief. John was a member of the Old Barns United Church and served on the Board of Stewards as well as a member of the Men’s Choir. He enjoyed fiddle music and dancing. John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Janet (MacKay); daughters, Wanda, Truro, Sharon, Lower Truro; sons, Dale, Halifax, Blair, Lower Truro; grandchildren, Kyle Moore (Samantha), Ryan Moore (Joanne), Kent Gallant, Bradley Gallant, Haley Kent, Makayla Kent, Nicole Kent; great-grandchildren, Fulton and Lucas; sister, Mary (Wally) Fisher, Riverview, NB; brothers, James (Glenda) Kent, Lower Truro, Everard, St. Catherines, Ont. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by sister, Katie Jefferson; brother in law, James Jefferson; sister in law, Elaine Kent. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 2pm in Old Barns United Church, with Rev. Dan Gunn officiating. Reception to follow in Fellowship Hall. Burial in Robie Street Cemetery, Truro. Donations in John’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
