Obituary for Freddie "Fred" Sutherland

Freddie "Fred"  Sutherland
Freddie “Fred” Stanfield Sutherland – 76, Truro Heights, passed away May 26, 2017 in QEII Halifax Infirmary. Born November 7, 1940 in Densmore Mills, N.S., he was the son of the late Gerald and Cora (Hines) Sutherland. Fred served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1957-1987 and following retirement from the Military, he drove a School Bus for the CCRSB as well as for the summer Cadet Program for many years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn (Barron); daughter, Sandra (George) Vacheresse, Truro Heights; sons, David (Judy) Sutherland, Amherst, Craig Sutherland, Halifax; grandchildren, John Blenkhorn (Brenna), Kenny (Talitha) Blenkhorn, Kate Rushton (Kyle), Brittany Rushton, Jodi Vacheresse (Justin); great grandchildren, Liam Rushton, Wyatt Blenkhorn and one on the way; sisters, Geraldine (Junior) Sampson, Saint John, NB, Sherald Sutherland, Moncton, NB, Karen Sutherland; brother, Gerry (Marie) Sutherland, Victoria, BC; many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2 from 6-8pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Private family interment will take place in Kennetcook Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Fred’s memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice.
