Obituary for Phyllis MacNeill (Mulhall)

Phyllis MacNeill (Mulhall)
MacNeill, Phyllis Jane (Mulhall) - 81, of Truro died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre after a brief illness. Born and raised in Liverpool, she was the daughter of the late Cyril and Elizabeth Mulhall. Predeceased by her brother F/L John (Jack); sister Ann Moffat. She raised five boys in Halifax with her husband Donald (deceased), later moving to Middle Stewiacke, and eventually Truro where she was a member of the Truro Duplicate Bridge Club and volunteered her time freely for music festivals, meals on wheels, the hospital, and others. Phyllis went back to work later in life where she landed her dream job as a tour director for Atlantic tours. She left her mark on 12 provinces and territories, 46 states (including Alaska and Hawaii), 33 countries, and 5 continents. Traveling and sharing experiences with her friends and family was obviously a passion, and the far north was one of her favourite places to visit; second only to walking on Summerville Beach. Phyllis had an intimate connection with animals (Sadie), was constantly awe-struck by the moon, and was fiercely protective of family. Her musical loves were as wide-ranging as her other interests - from jazz to classical, folk, opera, and rock’n roll. Phyllis (Mum, Aunt Phyl, Grammy, Mimi, Philly) is survived by sons Don Jr. (Donnie), Jim (Cricket), John (John Toolbox), David (Dee), Sandy (Sandman); daughters (in-law) Jennifer, Anne; grandchildren Chrisanne, Laura, Ryan, Katie, Nick; great-grandchildren Nyomi, Lillyanne, Easton, Sydney, Carson, Sophia, Anthony and other extended family. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at the Truro Fire Hall, 165 Victoria Street (Corner of Victoria St. and Young St.) Saturday, September 30 from 4 – 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis’ memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or your local animal shelter. Good-bye mum. You were “the limit”! Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home. Online messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting: www.ColchesterCommunity.com
