Obituary for Isobel "Susanne" Harrison (McLeod)

Isobel "Susanne" Harrison (McLeod)
Harrison, Isobel “Susanne” (McLeod), 72 – Shortts Lake, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2017 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late James and Mae (Reid) McLeod. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Larry Harrison; daughter, Stacey (Jason), Shortts Lake; son Brent (Meredith), Brookfield; brothers, Richard (Debbie) McLeod, James (Ingrid) McLeod, both of Saint John, NB; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Harrison, Rothesay, NB; brother-in-law, Bev (Marjorie) Harrison, Hampton, NB; her cherished grandchildren, Gavin and Paige; nieces and nephews.

Susanne’s vocation in life was her family. Her unconditional love and support allowed her family to pursue their individual paths and she was always there to celebrate the achievements and always there when those paths were not as graceful as they had hoped. She had two “peace places". The first was her home at Shortts Lake where she would interact with her family and friends in love. The second was a magical place where dreams really do come true. Her dream was to continue to make those lasting memories with her family and when she couldn't due to illness, she unselfishly, gave that gift to those she was leaving behind to celebrate her life and legacy.

Her passing will not only leave a void in the lives of her family but also in her close circle of friends. Those treasured friendships spanned decades and include some of the most caring and genuine people that will miss her greatly.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the loving care provided by Dr. Courtney Smith, Dr. Don Rowe and the entire palliative care team and their willingness in fulfilling her final wish.

Cremation has taken place and according to her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro where on-line condolences may be made at: www.ColchesterCommunity.com
