It is with great sadness and with deep hearts, we the family of mom, announce her passing at the Garden Home in Charlottetown, P.E.I. on April 24, 2018. She is survived by her daughters: Susan O’Donnell (John) P.E.I., Judy MacInnis (Kevin), Bedford, and Shelley Hanham (Bill), P.E.I.; sons: Scott Henderson (Judy) London, Ont., Gary Henderson (Val), Calgary; six grandchildren: Tina, Jason, Joey, Josh, Mitchel, and Michael; six great grandchildren: Cody, Myles, Brandon, Emily, Evan, and Jenna; beloved sister: Norma Lambert, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews. Her family was her pride and joy. She made each of us feel like we were a blessing in her life and her love was unwavering. She also wished to acknowledge Bev Russell, who was her special friend and caregiver for so many years. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Rhonda MacPherson, her beloved son Douglas, and sisters Doris Peck, Verna Bond, and Winnifred MacPherson. Mom was born on September 6, 1924 and was raised with her four sisters in Pictou County and Kentville, N.S. She was a veteran of World War II and worked as a Topographical Drafts woman creating maps. She was a strong Legion member and also worked in banking, bookkeeping, post-office, and federal and municipal elections. She loved to read, play cards, enjoyed music, and to watch hockey (Montreal) and General Hospital. Mom also had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially her cats. Cremation has taken place. A Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 Tribute and Memorial Service will be held Thursday May 3rd at 2pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
