Condolences

Condolence From: Hilary MacKenzie
Condolence: Belated condolences to Dr. Ramsey‘s family and friends. I only just learned of his death, and did so quite by chance. Last night I dreamed that he and another vet offered me a part-time position at an animal hospital. So today, I googled him and learned of his life and death in NS. I was a student in the first AHT graduating class at St Clair College. Dr. Ramsey was a warm and inspirational teacher, who imparted both academic knowledge and personal experience to his students. Fifty-two years later, I still remember some of his words. He was also very kind and supportive of me when I went through a crisis during my time there. He was a special man, and I know he is missed by all who knew him.

Condolence: Dr Ramsay was not only someone to look up to and to learn from while I was an AHT student at the NSAC, but he was a mentor, friend and advisor when I went on to work for him in the Vet Tech Program at Dal AC. Dr Ramsay was a "walking encyclopedia". If you ever needed an answer to a question he had it, and loved to share any information and knowledge he had to make his technicians even better. His NSAC AHT grads are renowned all over North America for their compassion, knowledge, hard work ethic, and consrant quest for knowledge to learn and improve their skills for the better care of their patients. Dr Ramsay will be missed! Raise a glass, or a bottle, of beer and say a toast to a great man!

Condolence: Dear Mrs. Ramsay and family,

When I walked in the doors at NSAC to start my AHT program in 1992, I had no idea the path my life would take or the experiences I would have working as a Vet Tech. I am still working in the field and still love my job. Dr. Ramsay has taught so many students over the years and he will always be remembered. I am thankful I had the opportunity to be taught by him and that he developed such a wonderful program. He has influenced so many lives. Please accept my sincerest condolences at this difficult time.

Condolence: So sorry to hear of Dr Ramsey's passing after his brave battle with COPD. He was the best instructor I ever had...knowledgeable, kind, interesting & always brought out the best in each student! Most importantly, he displayed empathy towards all animals he or his students handled/treated. I was a mature student when accepted at St Clair College, Windsor, On.& travelled from PEI the summer of 1985. My ambition was to be eventually employed at the new Atlantic Veterinary Teaching Hospital, which did come about in Nov.'87. Shortly after, Dr Ramsay arrived at the AVC, on a sabbatical. We picked up our acquaintance & my husband, Eric & myself met Susan & his daughters. They were so hospitable. He hosted a party at his home for any previous St Clair grads in the area. He & Susan had Eric, myself &new baby daughter over for an evening dinner. We eventually moved to N Scotia, & soon Dr Ramsay moved, as well, to start an AHT program in Truro, NS. The last I heard from him, he was offering me employment in Truro...always thinking about his previous grads!!!! Eric & I would like to express our sincere condolences to Susan, girls & family. I hold Dr Ramsay in the highest esteem & we will certainly raise a brew in his honour tomorrow night & reminisce the St Clair days! 1987 St Clair College grad
