Nora  Johnson (MacCallum)
The passing occurred peacefully on October 27, 2009 at Williams’ Country Home in Hilden of Nora Edna (MacCallum) Johnson, age 84 years. Born in Kemptown, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Laura (Fellemen) MacCallum. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Following her marriage to Ivan, she lived her entire life in Salmon River. She was a homemaker, raising their four children and assisting with the family well drilling business. She was a member of First United Church and the Salmon River Fire Brigade Ladies’ Auxiliary. In her younger years she enjoyed spending summers at Brule Beach and travelling with Ivan.She is survived by her daughter Sylvia (Patrick) Branton, Bedford and their children Christopher, Chad and Alyson; son Gregory (Cindy), Bible Hill and their children Stephanie (Todd) Wallace, Brian (Allison), and Mitchell; son Myles (Kim), Valley and their children Courtney and Megan; and son-in-law Jim Zeghers (Dana), Kentucky and their family Michelle (Adam) Brownlee, and Samantha Zeghers. Nora was a proud great grandmother to Abigail Wallace, Cooper Brownlee and Molly Johnson. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Marion MacCallum, Ramona Johnson and Juanita Johnson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Nora was predeceased by her husband Ivan and their daughter Deborah. She was also predeceased by sisters Martha Carlyle and Margaret (in infancy); brothers Arthur and Wesley MacCallum; and infant granddaughter Melanie Zeghers. The family would like to thank Carmen Payson and the staff at Williams’ Country Home for their care and compassion, as well as Cathy Wark and Pat Lewis who lovingly cared for Nora in her home until last February. Visitation for Mrs. Johnson will be on Thursday, October 29 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, with funeral service on Friday, October 30 at 2:00 pm, both at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Interment will be at Crossroads Cemetery, Valley, following the service. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, First United Church Memorial Fund or charity of your choice.
