Obituary for Carl Roy

Carl Roy
Roy, Carl Douglas, Valley, died peacefully on June 20, 2018 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Born in Liverpool, NS, he was the son of the late Roland and Effie Roy. Carl was a very hard working man. Over the years he held a variety of jobs. He worked at various service stations, moving on to Andy's Tire Shop, followed by Moffatt's Moving and Storage. Carl ended his working career at Home Hardware Eastern Distribution Centre where he held various positions in the warehouse over his 27 years with the company. He embraced retirement where he loved his daily "Sunday" drives with his loving wife Wendy and two dogs, Roxy and Oliver. Over the years Carl enjoyed working in his gardens, loved tinkering with home projects and washing and waxing his cars. He loved music and dancing and could often be heard whistling a favorite tune. He was a big fan of harness racing and enjoyed socializing at the track on Sunday afternoons. No matter where Carl went, he always found a familiar face to chat with. He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Wendy; daughters, Cathy (Dennis) Yuill, Nicole (Matt) Robinson; sons, John (Lynn), Jim (Carol); sisters, Reta Munro, Carol LeBlanc; grandchildren, Peter, Theresa, Katelyn, Jacob, Breanna; 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ellen (Connolly) Roy; sisters, Mary Roy, Gladys Gostick, Darlene Roy; brothers, Vincent, Russell, Claire. The family would like to thank the incredible ICU nurses at CEHHC for the fantastic care they provided for Carl while he was there. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St, where visitation will take place Wednesday, June 27, from 6-8pm. A graveside service will be held at Bible Hill Cemetery on Thursday, June 28 at 11:00am. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
