Ray will be fondly remembered by his children, Anne Savoie of Moncton, NB, Ray Thomas of Sarnia, ON, stepdaughters Shelley Rushton MacKenzie (Lloyd) of Debert, NS and Shauna Rushton (Mariano Arruda) of CFB Greenwood, NS. His brothers, Normand (Gail) of Moncton, NB, Edmond (Sandra) of MacDougall Settlement, NB and Gilmond of Notre-Dame, NB. His sisters, Lucie (Aldoria) Arsenault of Quispamsis, NB and Lucille McLellan of Lower Coverdale, NB.

He was predeceased by his wife, Hectorine (Manuel) Savoie, his loving companion, Sharon Rushton, his brother, Simon and his father, Camille.

Ray had been a driver with Home Hardware for 33 years until his retirement in 2016. He loved to play music and in his retirement, he pursed his passion by playing Friday nights at the Glenholme Loop Petro Pass Restaurant which he truly enjoyed. He also recorded a CD and in his own words was ‘one of the best experiences of my life’. He also played at the Great Village Legion and was so proud of becoming a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 72.

Ray had a heart of gold. He loved people, he loved to laugh and was always there to help anyone in need. Even in his last days, he kept his sense of humour and his gratefulness for his family and his friends. The love he felt for us was evident until the very end.

We would like to thank the staff of the Colchester East Hants Health Center for taking such good care of our father.

We will be celebrating Raymond’s life on Wednesday September 5th at the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street in Truro, NS. Visitation will be held from 1 – 2 pm with a Memorial Service following at 2 pm.

A mass will be held at a later date at Notre-Dame du Sacré Cœur in Notre-Dame, NB.
