Obituary for E. Wayne Forbes

E. Wayne Forbes
Ernest “Wayne” Forbes – 69, Truro, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 28 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro surrounded by his loving family.

Wayne was fortunate to have turned his passion for hunting and fishing into a successful business and owned/operated Fin, Fur & Feather on Aberdeen Street in Truro for over 20 years. It was there Wayne found many lifelong friends. Wayne continued on with his passion for fishing by working with the Cobequid Salmon Association where he focused on salmon habitat restoration.

When Wayne wasn’t hunting or fishing, he could be found at his happy place, the Forbes Family Cottage at Brule Point where he shared many memorable days with family and friends eating lobster, riding his lawn tractor (for sport, or for pleasure), playing cards, solving the world’s problems during ‘happy hour’ or generally just puttering around. “Wayner” was one of a kind. He never liked to be the center of attention, but he had a gentle soul and a quiet strength that inevitably ended up drawing everyone’s attention towards him.Wayne loved many things, but above all, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Claire (Frizzell); daughters, Kari (Rod Badcock), Wendy; son, Christopher. He is also survived by his brother, Clyde MacKenzie (Lorraine Tattrie); nephews Randy (Cora-Lee) and Robbie (Susanne) along with many extended families. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Eleanor Forbes.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro from where visitation will be held Monday, October 1 from 6-8pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, October 2 at 2pm in the funeral home. If so desired, donations may be made to the Cobequid Salmon Association or Ducks Unlimited. Live webcasting of the service will begin at 1:58pm (Atlantic Time) and is available with online messages of condolence at: www.ColchesterCommunity.com
