Obituary for Harold "Duke" Dearing

Dearing, Harold (Duke) Roy-78, Truro. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold (Duke) R. Dearing. Da passed away Monday, December 10, 2018 in Truro, Nova Scotia. Born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Harold and Elizabeth Dearing. Left to mourn are his children, Harold (Duke) Jr., Elizabeth (Steve), Cheryl, Darren (Tracy); grandchildren, Sean, Brittany, Shelby, Candace, Ashley, Duke and Matthew and great grandchildren, Sophie and Ben. Also surviving are brothers, Bobby (Anna), Jim, Blair (Debbie) and sister, Sharon. Predeceased by his wife and best friend of 53 years, Mary Jane Dearing (Ludlow) and brothers, Crawford and Danny. Da served in the Canadian Armed Forces in Germany, Cypress and several provinces within Canada. His time served was with The Black Watch and The Royal Canadian Regiment. A quiet man with a wonderful sense of humour. He loved to read a great western and he and his friends would often share their books. His heart was broken over the loss of our Mother. As hard as he tried, he couldn’t live without her. We will miss him, his sense of humour, his kindness and his love. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home. As per Da’s request, there will be a private family service in the spring. If so desired, donations may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be sent to the family via www.ColchesterCommunity.com
