Obituary for Teresa "Terri" Bishop (MacGillvray)

Bishop, Teresa “Terri” Elizabeth 67, Truro – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Terri Elizabeth Bishop announce her passing on December 31, 2018 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Terri was born in Antigonish, N.S. to the late Angus and Mary Catherine (MacLeod) MacGillvray. After graduation from the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College in 1974, Terri taught for 31 years finishing her career at Valley Elementary School. Upon retirement, Terri taught the Roots of Empathy Program to elementary classes for 10 years, with the last number of years being at Truro Elementary School. Always ready for a good time, she was a terrific hostess and the life of the party. From the classroom to a gathering, Terri was known for her seagull call. Terri leaves behind her loving husband, Bruce; sons, Joel, London, ON and Mark, Truro. She is also survived by her sisters, Loretta MacGillvray, Antigonish, Mary Ann MacGillvary, Victoria, BC and Margie (Jeff) Kaplan, Arvada, Colorado; brothers, Billy (Shirley), MacAras Brook, Neil (Joyce), Brierly Brook, Charlie, Waterville, Colin, New Glasgow and John Dan (Annette), New Minas. Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Ellis (Terri’s doctor and great friend), to Raj Makkar and the entire Medical Day Unit Team, the Palliative Care Team, the VON Home Care and Nurses Team, Dr. Colleen O’Connell and her team at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation, Fredericton, Dr. Supriya Sharma, Chief Medical Advisor, Health Canada, Ottawa and Dr. Hiide Yoshino, Ichikawa, Japan for their guidance through uncharted waters which provided an avenue for Terri to have more time. Thank you to Bill and Eileen Cole and family for their love and support and being with us until the end. As pink was her favourite colour, everyone attending her service is asked to wear something pink. Pink family flowers only. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro where a Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 6th at 2:00p.m. with Pastor Greg Porter officiating.
