Obituary for Mildred Barclay (Rushton)

Mildred Irene (Rushton) Barclay – 91, Debert. It is with heavy hearts, that we the family announce the passing of our mum, Mildred Irene (Rushton) Barclay on Thursday, February 28, 2019 in the Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. Born in Westchester on August 19, 1927, she was a daughter the late Merle and Elise (Moore) Rushton.

Surviving are her children, Doreen Barclay (Gary Black), Mt. Thom, Larry (Valerie) Barclay, Debert, Donna Hoyt, Crowes Mills, Sharon (Dwight) Nichols, Brookside, Harold (Debbie), Debert, Bruce, Millarville, Alta, Kevin (Lori), Sylvan Lake, Alta, Rhonda Barclay, Airdrie, Alta; sisters, Stella Corbin, Oxford, Betty (Stacy) MacDonald, Onslow, Esther (Rod) MacDonald, Onslow, Jean Cross, PEI; brothers, Claude (Marilyn), Truro, Ken, New Glasgow; seventeen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Roy Barclay; daughter, Linda; two sons, Ronald and Douglas; two grandsons, Edward and Jarrett; sisters, Hazel Taylor, Beryl Rushton; brothers, Russell, Lester, Ronald, Milton.

Our mum was a member of the Debert United Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, sewing, her flower gardens and she enjoyed music and loved to dance. We would like to thank the staff of the Mira for their care over these past 14 years.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6 from 1pm until time of Funeral Service at 2pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Pastor Ken Banks will officiate with interment at a later date in Plains Road Cemetery, Debert. If so desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
