He was born on October 27, 1946 in Truro to the late Bernard Sidler and Sylvia Bernice (Margolian) Sidler. An avid outdoorsman, Robert dedicated himself to his interests, ranging from motorsports, aviation, competitive shooting, upland bird hunting, and fresh and saltwater fly fishing. He actively participated in the community through, among others, the family business, Margolians Maritimes Ltd. and his volunteer interests such as the Colchester Regional Hospital. Robert was unsparing of himself in the pursuit of his craft, all the while devoting himself to helping others to improve theirs. He was predeceased by his wife, Daina (Biskaps) Sidler and nephew, Jason Cormier. He is survived by his sons, Mark and Christopher Sidler; daughters-in-law, Sarah (Chaimovitz) Sidler and Elizabeth Liang; granddaughter, Georgiana, and his granddaughter-to-be; his companion, Jody Newhouse, of St. Andrews, New Brunswick; her son, Alexander Lively, and the Newhouse family; his sister, Karen Cormier; brother-in-law, Donald Cormier, and their family in Amherst, N.S.
