Obituary for Pauline Richards (Stone)

Richards, Pauline Mae, age 87, Onslow Mountain, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2020 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Hazel (Ramsey) Stone. To Polly, family was all. She was a dedicated wife to Bert for 60 years, a devoted mother and grandmother, a mother-in-law extraordinaire, an amazing sister and sister-in-law and a faithful friend to all those she met throughout her lifetime. The many wonderful friendships she enjoyed while living and raising her family on Hillcrest Avenue were treasured to the end. Hers was a lifetime filled with people who loved and cherished her in return. Time spent with all of her family together was especially precious … family reunions, summer gatherings at Sutherland's Lake, every possible holiday dinner and even just the simple weekly Sunday suppers were all important to Polly. After raising her family, she enjoyed many trips throughout Canada and the USA, always coming home with a huge smile and lots of stories and laughter. The most meaningful of all her adventures was a trip to Palm Springs with her three sisters to visit her niece, Valerie, a year before her first sister passed. Polly also enjoyed life at home, gardening, listening to music and enjoying her hockey games, of which she knew all the players. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to celebrate her life are her daughters, Wendy (Allan) Isenor, Pugwash, Debbie Leslie, Valley, Joanne (Doug) Boyd, Halifax, Janice Richards, Dartmouth; sons, Dale (Jane), Bible Hill, Paul (Paula), Valley, Tony (Michelle), Onslow Mountain; grandchildren, Tyrone (Kelli) Richards, Matthew (Lyndsay) Leslie, Amanda Leslie (Lee), Colin (Kelsie) Boyd, Connor (Melissa) Boyd, Julie Richards (Devon), Dane Richards, Rayleigh Richards; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Bill, Lloyd (Georgina); sisters-in-law, Ann Mowatt, June MacDonald; brother-in-law, Floyd (Olga) Richards; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Burton; grandson, Tyler Richards; brothers, Murray and Gordon; sisters, Margaret Osborne, Ruby Whitney and Judy Goodwin.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, February 16 at 2 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. David Hart officiating. Reception to follow. Interment at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East. Family flowers only.
