Frances Grace Sears, 90 - Truro
Born Frances Grace Russell, Frances was born on June 20, 1929 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton. She died peacefully at home in Truro on February 27, 2020.

She lived most of her life in Brookfield, Nova Scotia.

She worked one year as a school teacher and then married her husband, the late William “Bill” Sears. Later, she worked for Sun Alliance and London and then for the Chignecto Central Regional School Board as an Administrative Assistant. She had many hobbies at this time, including bowling, sewing and reading. Her love of reading she passed on to her two children. Later in life she and her husband took up square dancing which gave her great joy. She had a love of travel and had many trips, her most recent being seven years ago on the Allure of the Sea. A couple of years before that she enjoyed traveling to the British Isles, which she had always wanted to do and she had a chance to finally see Paris. She had many friends over the years and loved to laugh.

She is survived by her son Brian Richard Sears and his wife Marlene, grandchildren Wendy Szopa (Mirek) and Marc, great-grandchildren Maxwell and Samuel, her brother Jim Russell (Laurette) several half siblings and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, William John Russell, originally from Newfoundland, and his wife Susan (Budge), her husband William McWhirter Sears, her son William Maxwell Sears (Susan), siblings Hayward (Mary), George (Frances), Douglas, Melvin (Carol) and Carolyn.

The family would like to thank the staff of the VON and Earth Angels for providing the supports which allowed her to live out her life at home.

Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will take place on Sunday evening March 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a memorial service to be held on Monday, March 9 at 2:00 PM, all in the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Gary Yetman officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lung Association of Nova Scotia or for Breast Cancer Research.
