Kennedy, William “Bill” Lewis, age 87 – Pleasant Valley. Bill passed away peacefully on March 4, 2020 in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born on August 5, 1932, he was a son of the late David and Mary (Ayles) Kennedy. Bill lived in Pleasant Valley and worked at Brookfield Box Co. and then at LaFarge Brookfield, retiring after 25 years of service. He had a wide circle of friends and loved hunting and fishing especially on the Stewiacke River during the spring and trout fishing in the Highlands. During his retirement, he raised turkeys for family and friends. He enjoyed growing flowers and listening to old time fiddle music. He also spent many hours with Burton Joyce restoring The Lower Pleasant Valley Cemetery. He spent the past few years at the Sunrise Crest in Brookfield up until the past two months, where he lived in the East Cumberland Lodge. He is survived by his sisters, Marilyn (Don) MacNeil and Anne (Dave) Delaney; his chosen brother, Reg (Debbie) Smith as well as several nieces and nephews. Uncle Bill was very special to them. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Gerald and sister-in-law, Noreen (Taylor). The family wished to thank the VON and staff at the East Cumberland Lodge for their compassionate and professional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lower Pleasant Valley Cemetery or charity of choice. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, March 9th at 10am in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Michael Henderson officiating.
