Condolence From: Kathleen Basque
Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of Sheila's passing and wish to express my sincere condolences to her family. I had the pleasure of working with Sheila at the Law School back in the 90s. She was a real asset to Dal. I still have a gift that she gave me years ago, and will cherish it even more now.

Condolence: I remain very saddened to have learned of Sheila's untimely loss. I first met Sheila over the phone when she called me in Toronto to let me know that my application for the 1996-1997 Dal Law programme arrived after the deadline. She asked about my circumstances and was quick to laugh at my tongue-in-cheek reply in which I mentioned my dog, Sheba. I was happy when I finally met Sheila in person, and she was happy to tell me that she wanted to meet Sheba, who would come to love visiting her in her office. Sheila welcomed all of us students with open arms, always offering a ready smile, a cheerful word, and caring support. I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to Barry and to Sheila's family and friends. Sheila made the Law Graduate programme the best possible experience. I am also glad she liked dogs, as I'm pretty sure that was why she put my application forward. May She Rest In Peace.

Condolence: So sorry Barry and family. Sheila will be greatly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have met her. No matter the weather or the bad scores she always was able to cheer you up with her smile and dry sense of humor. She was famous for her shortbread at Christmastime. When she offered to bring some all were over the moon! You are in my thoughts at this time and I wish I could have be there yesterday.

Condolence: Barry, I too express my sadness at learning of Sheila's passing. The years we worked together and shared the small space of the Law House on Henry Street were times I enjoyed and remember with fondness, including your daily visits at the end of each work day to pick Sheila up. Sheila had a great sense of humour. Engaging in casual conversation on almost any topic was always a pleasure. Sheila would always give as good as she got - on just about any topic. She was great at her job, a great source of support for so many graduate students. Sorry that I am unable to attend the Celebration this evening. Dick Evans

Condolence: I was very saddened to learn of Sheila's passing. She carried out all her responsibilities at Dalhousie with professional skill while treating everyone with a very human touch and often with a wry Scottish smile. She helped me enormously especially when I served as Associate Dean, and we shared many happy moments She was also loved by students and as noted she was awarded the Rosemary Gill prize for exceptional service to students. My deepest sympathy to Barry, Sheila's daughter and sister, and all her many relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Condolence: Barry and family we were shocked, and deeply saddened, to hear of Sheila's passing. Sheila was a core member of the Dal Law community for two decades and was central to the success of our graduate programme in those years. She always had a great sense of humour, loved a little bit of gossip, and greatly supported students who came to Halifax from around the globe. She even had great success in keeping Richard in line. Her passing leaves us with a great ache in our hearts, but we have many happy memories....especially of Sheila at our potlucks! Our sincere condolences.

Condolence: Dear Barry and family. My most sincere condolences on this sad loss. I worked with Sheila and enjoyed our many chats - and her shortbread! It was also nice to bump into Sheila in St. Margaret's Bay some time back and share a walk on the trail with our dogs. May she Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
