The family of Elwood ‘Woody’ MacDonald share the sad news of his peaceful passing on March 20, his 65th birthday.

Woody was born in Truro on March 20, 1955, the youngest child of the late Allister and Phyllis [Blakney] MacDonald.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Ruth; children Allison, Ashley, Aaron [Laura], Adam [Elsa]; grandchildren Marisa and Teagan George, Hudson MacDonald; siblings Sheila Archibald [Chuck Stone] and Danny [Mary]; sister-in-law Carol MacDonald; mother-in-law Bonnie Wilson who loved Woody as a son; several nieces and nephews.

Above all else, Woody loved his family. He spent hours building the camp which he joyfully called ‘the playhouse for the grandkids’! Last week he was delighted to wear his MacDonald tartan kilt to the wedding of Adam and Elsa.

The outdoors was where Woody liked to be and he and Ruth spent many hours on the land. He designed and built his own farm equipment. Woody was a true jack-of-all-trades!
For years Woody was a coach and leader for the Brookfield 4-H Tug of War and Woodsman projects. His teams participated in County Rallies and 4-H Weekend. He related to the young people and many have stopped by the house in Alton to get some ‘Woody wisdom’ at significant moments in their living.

Woody was a truck driver for 42 years, delivering feed throughout the Maritimes. At the time of his death he was employed with WMB Holdings as both driver and dispatcher.

There will be no visitation or funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
