Condolences

Condolence From: Sylvia Campbell
Condolence: I was so sorry to hear of Lorimers passing. I knew him from the Maritime Fiddle Contest. He was a great fiddler even the last few years when he was battling cancer. I competed in the same category as him and he always won. The year I won was the first year he didn't compete because of his illness. I played his Hand Gliders Reel as one of my tunes and won first prize. I'm sure he was helping me. He will be missed by many in the music world.

Condolence From: NOVA SCOTIA FOLK ART FESTIVAL
Condolence: Dear Shirley... On behalf of the Artists, the Managing Committee and the thousands of Folk Art Collectors who attended the NS FOLK ART FESTIVAL, I would like to extend our condolences to you and to Lorimer's family upon hearing of his death. For over 20 years, up until 2017, Lorimer and yourself entertained at every Folk Art Festival on the first Sunday in August. For 4 hours (with brief stops) you played for the pleasure of those in attendance. It was a sad day, when I called in March of 2018 to confirm your participation for another year, to hear Lorimer say he thought we should look for another fiddler...He was a gentleman, an accomplished musician and a pleasure to listen to at the Festival. You were a team to be sure...We shall cherish the memories of the music you made together.. Sincerely, SUE KELLY, Chair NSFAF

Condolence From: Joyce & Ozzie Wile
Condolence: To Shirley Spidle and the family of the late Lorimer Higgins: We wish to convey our deepest expressions of sympathy in Lorimer’s passing. We know how much you miss him, Shirley, as Lorimer became special to many people in the Auburndale/Bridgewater area in the 30 plus years he lived here. We always enjoyed him and his very special fiddle playing ability as he and Shirley (on keyboard) enjoyed playing together many years in hospitals, nursing homes, fiddle contests and in our church services. He will be missed by many, but we will always remember him.
