Obituary for John "Johnny" Blois

John "Johnny" Blois
Blois, John Clifford (Garfield) – Bible Hill. “Johnny B. Good” has made his final run on May 26, 2020. John was the son of the late Clifford and Ruby (Crowe) Blois.

A long-haul truck driver for 44 years, John travelled throughout Canada, USA and into Mexico. He drove for Hanes, Allied Van Lines and operated his own “John’s Delivery Service” Courier prior to moving to Tennessee, USA in 1988. Health issues brought him into retirement in 1999 when he returned to reside with Jim and Rita Webb.

He is survived by sons, John (Laverne), Fort Fraser, BC, Steven (Patti), Salmon River and daughter, Heather (Mike) Halverson, Sackville, NS and their mother, Kaye Blois, Truro; two grandchildren, Rob (Morgan) Blois and Cassie Blois (Doug); four great grandchildren, Hayden, Parker, Danica and Callie; half-siblings, James (Diane) Blois, Delta , BC, Logan (Debbie) Blois, Dartmouth, NS, Kathryn Pace, Elaine Cravin and Joan (Paddy) Supple, all of Halifax. He was predeceased by sisters, Evelyn Hughes and Marjorie Gonzales.

In his early years, John was a volunteer with the Truro Fire Brigade and a founding member of the Truro Model Railroad Club. He served on the Board of Directors for the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame and he volunteered at the Annual Hank Snow Tributes in Bridgewater and Liverpool, NS

Johnny had a special love for children and animals. He enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing and making compost for his organic gardens. He felt most at peace midst God’s creation.

A very special thanks for the compassionate and immeasurable care of family physician, Dr. B. Chalati and to all of the doctors, nurses and caregivers in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital and most recently, Vimy Court who, working within the COVID-19 guidelines, made it possible for Rita to be by Johnny’s side.

Donations in his memory may be given to Maggie’s Place or charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. A Private Graveside Service will be held in the Bible Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
