Ivan  MacLeod
Ivan Robert MacLeod, age 78, of Valley, Nova Scotia passed away Friday, August 14th, 2020 in the Mira Long Term Care Home, Truro.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late George R. and Gertrude (MacKenzie) MacLeod of Scotsburn, Pictou County.

Ivan began his career as a lineman with Maritime Tel & Tel. He was a Truro Police officer for 20 years and a long haul truck driver with King Freight Lines and Connors Transfer for many years. He loved country music, tractor trailers, antique cars, the Blue Jays, his guitar, Jennifer and Adam’s dog Coal, and his little cat Indy. Attending Jennifer’s Pipe and Drum performances was something he enjoyed. He was a member of Valley-Kemptown Fire Brigade and Valley United Church Choir. Ivan loved to travel and enjoyed seeing the United States and Canada coast to coast. In 2016, Ivan was recognized by the Nova Scotia House of Assembly for a million miles of safe driving, accident free.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years Peggy (Plumb) and daughter Jennifer (Adam) MacAulay of Riverton, Pictou County.

Also surviving are his sisters Evelyn Fraser of Middleton, NS, Elna (Richard) Innis of Cambridge Station, NS, brother Blair (Janet) MacLeod of Scotsburn, sister-in-law Gail MacLeod of Vancouver, BC; 22 nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Charlotte MacDonald of Woodburn, Pictou County and brother-in-law Sonny Plumb of Belleville, ON.

Besides his parents, Ivan was predeceased by brother Jim, brother-in-law Gordon Fraser, sisters-in-law Vicki Plumb and Beverley Baker, nephew Billy Baker and niece Barbara Kronemeyer.

No visitation by family request. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at 2pm in the soccer field next to Valley Elementary School, 96 Salmon River Road, Valley with Rev. Carolyn Wilson Wynne officiating. Due to Covid-19 and Public Health requirements, a maximum of 250 people will be permitted to attend and masks are required. Please bring your own chair, practice physical distancing, and register with one of the funeral directors upon arrival. Burial will follow at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Scotsburn. Donations in Ivan’s memory may be made to APSEA Auxiliary providing supportive equipment to children with hearing loss or vision loss, which was a cause important to Ivan or to the Colchester Branch of the SPCA, this may be done through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Special thanks to staff in the Mayflower Unit of the Mira Long Term Care home. They took excellent care of Dad and looked after us as well. Also special thanks to family and friends for the ongoing support. It did not go unnoticed.
