MacKinnon, James “Jim” Albert – Age 80, Onslow, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Montreal, QC, Jim was a son of the late Maynard and Leota (Ramsay) MacKinnon.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert “Luke” MacKinnon and son-in-law, Mike Schmitt. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine (Miller); daughters, Karyn MacKinnon, Bible Hill and Jill (Koko) Gillis, Guelph, ON; grandchildren, Julia Schmitt, Brody Schmitt, Brayden Schmitt, Jaxon Gillis and Spencer Gillis as well as sisters, Shirley MacKinnon, Hamilton, ON and Anne MacKinnon, Truro.
Jim was a long-time Truro business owner of MacKinnon’s Colour Centre. He adored his grandchildren and spent much of his time following them in their sports and activities. Jim enjoyed hockey, baseball, fishing and playing crib as well as spending his retirement time at their family cottage at Sutherland’s Lake.
