Bubba
To many he was known as John. To us, we proudly called him the unique title of Bubba.
Bubba always took time to make each of us feel special. He was our biggest supporter, and encouraged us to never back down from a challenge but to instead face it straight on, should we fail it was never for lack of trying... instead he asked us what we learned from a situation, fine tune it and try again.
He was always kind when he spoke to us, explaining his thoughts and views on just about anything. I admire him for his humble outlook on life, and how he would seem almost bashful when we praised him for his accomplishments. He never forgot where he came from, always did his best to help others and routinely stayed involved with organizations that made a positive impact on our local community.
Bubba taught us many life lessons, one of my favourites was learning to drive my dads truck and trailer to haul my own horses. Drive like youve got a carton of milk open in the truck. That horse is trusting you as she walks onto that trailer and you close it up. She cant see the road or brace herself for whatever turns or bumps lay ahead. were a couple of his lines he used, I can still hear him to this day. He spent time teaching me how to check the hitch, inspect the truck and trailer, drive and reverse until it was flawless.
Im forever grateful to have him as a grandfather and to have had the opportunity to be so close to him and Nanny, spending summers together in Brule making endless memories.
I couldnt imagine our lives without him, and as we discover a new chapter in life as we try to move forward we will find comfort in the love and strength he has left behind.
Miss you Bubba
