Obituary for John "Jack" Mont

John "Jack"  Mont
Mont, John “Jack” James – Age 95, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully in Vimy Court Nursing Home, Bible Hill, NS on January 14, 2021 at the age of 95 years.

Jack was born in New Glasgow to parents, Harry and Nellie (Moss) Mont. At the age of seven, his family moved to Truro where he resided for the rest of his life. He was an employee of the Town of Truro for 44 years and enjoyed a long and healthy life until, at the age of 89 years when he first entered into nursing home care. Jack was a great sports enthusiast. He was devoted to the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jack was a resident of Vimy Court Nursing Home, Bible Hill for the last four years of his life.

Jack is survived by son, Wayne (Marie), Valley and their children, Julie Mont, Cheri Ann (Chris) Flynn and Pam (Jason) Williams; daughter, Sherry Mont, Bible Hill and her children, Kristie (Chris) Newby and Matt MacKay; daughter, Judy (Earle) Rushton, Valley and their children, Joel Rushton and Sarah (Jeremy) Smith. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Florence (Joan) Alward Mont; eight siblings, Bill Mont, Walter Mont, Gordon Mont, Irving Mont, Eddy Mont(who was killed overseas in France in WWII); also brother, Kenneth who died in infancy; sisters, Dorothy Winters and Edith Reid.

A special thanks goes out to the staff of Vimy Court for the wonderful care that he received while there. We can’t say enough about their kindness, thoughtfulness and the love they bestowed upon him. They definitely went above and beyond and for that, we are eternally grateful.

A private family Graveside Service will be held in the Spring 2021. Donations in Jack’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army or charity of choice.
