Obituary for Christine Morrow (MacLeod)

Christine Morrow (MacLeod)
Morrow, Christine Margaret - Age 95 of Truro, formerly of The Falls, moved on peacefully on April 2, 2021 with one of her favourite songs quietly playing and her daughter holding her. Born in her family home at The Falls, she was the daughter of the late Willie John and Sadie (Hayman) MacLeod. Christine received her education in a one room schoolhouse at The Falls. Upon completion of Grade twelve, she taught in one room schoolhouses in Tatamagouche Mountain, Bayhead, French River and North River. Christine met Robbie Morrow at a Balmoral house dance and he became her dance partner from then on. They were married in June of 1950. Christine worked at Stanfield’s when she first came to Truro, but later moved to working with Parker Loughead Transportation in the office and stayed there until her retirement. She was then promoted to “Nanny” and took that job on without training to become one of the best. If there was an award for “Biscuit Queen,” it would have Christine’s name on it.

Christine was patient, kind and caring. She always looked out for those she loved, never hesitating to put herself second to make their lives easier. Chris and Robbie loved to listen and dance to fiddle music. They travelled later in life, enjoying each other, new places and new adventures. Christine was a long-time member of St. James Presbyterian Church.

Surviving her is her daughter, Kenda Harris (Terry); grandson, Kirk Harris (Victoria); granddaughter, Robyn MacCallum (Nick); great granddaughters, Charlotte and Evelyn Harris, Leah MacCallum; former son-in-law, Blair Harris; step grandchildren, Leslay Harris, Lisa Johnstone and their families. Also survived by several nieces (who each were so special to her in their own way) and nephews. Christine was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Waiting to be reunited with Chris “TeeDee” in Heaven is her husband, Robbie; brother, Harold MacLeod (Helen); sisters, Helen Loughead (Parkie & Baby Joy) and Kathleen Geddes (Ralph).

The family would like to thank the staff on Garden & Eden in Cedarstone for the wonderful care given to her over the past few years. Mom made some special connections there and the kindness and gentle care she received, as well as the so many instances of going the extra step for her will always be remembered and appreciated.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the family will be holding a small private service on Friday, April 9th at 11am in Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro with Mrs. Jacquie Ross officiating. Seating is limited, if you would like to attend, please contact the funeral home to reserve a seat. Burial will be in The Falls Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be to Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or a charity of your choice. Live Webcasting of the service will begin at 10:58am (Atlantic Time) and is available along with condolences by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com.
