Obituary for Joyce Manley

Joyce Manley
Manley, Joyce May (Hutchinson) – Age 84, Truro, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 at home. Born February 28, 1937 in Windsor, NS, she was a daughter of the late Waldo and Laura (Thompson) Hutchinson.

Joyce would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received an invitation she couldn’t refuse. It was a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. They said the reunion came with certain benefits. Laughing, dancing, listening to real country music, bowling and reading were guaranteed. She accepted the invitation but had a few conditions - the curtains had to be beautiful, she didn’t have to do the cooking and there needed to be plenty of yard sales along the way. At 8:30 p.m. on May 21st she accepted the invitation.

She wanted you to know she is survived by her husband of 50 years, Vernon; daughters, Cindy (Roger), Little Dyke, Donna (Martin), P.E.I.; sons, Rick (Maggie), Glenholme and Kevin, Bible Hill. She is also survived by sisters, June, Comox, BC, Bette (Jim), Scotsburn, NS, Doreen (Dwayne), Harmony; brothers, Ivan, Huntsville, ON, Freeman, Bible Hill, Ronnie, Stewiacke, Freddie (Sylvia), Shortts Lake, Bobby (Helen), Valley, Steven (Ruth Ann), Onslow; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sandra (Ray), Shubenacadie; sister-in-law, Donna (Paul), Sudbury, ON; brother-in-law, Floyd, Shubenacadie and brother-in-law, Kevin (Valerie), New York.

Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her son, Kenneth; sister; Marjorie; son-in-law, Roger Ryan; sisters-in-law, Betty and Carol.

Some of you might remember her smiling face behind the counter at the Metropolitan for years. And you might even be wearing some of her handy work from Stanfield’s. Joyce wants to let the girls from her bowling team know that she felt it was time to let some of you finally win.

We, her family, would like to extend the most sincere thank you to the nurses of the V.O.N., staff and Drs. of Palliative Care. Your kindness meant everything. Donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to the SPCA.

A private graveside service will held in Bible Hill Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
