Obituary for Susan Vergie (Irving)

Susan Vergie (Irving)
Vergie (Irving), Susan Gail – Age 74, Masstown, only daughter of the late Charles and Leota Irving of Masstown, NS passed peacefully at home on June 2, 2021 following a short but valiant struggle with lung cancer.

Susan worked proudly for the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board until her retirement at age 63. She spent her remaining years enjoying her family, baking, gardening and taking many trips to her wood pile that she kept a full reign on even until her last fire! Knitting was a way to pass the time and keep her hands busy once her typing skills were no longer needed. She knit many slippers, toques, sweaters and cozy afghans for family and friends.

Susan was a loving and devoted Mom, Grammie, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. She was a giving lady and often baked to feed anyone she thought could use a treat or a pick-me-up!

Susan is survived by her children, Shawn (Carrie), Belmont, Shelley (Rik Roeterdink), River John, Carman, Belmont, Kelly (Amanda), Belmont; step-children, Joanne Vergie Lake (Dean Casler), Truro and Chris (Rachelle) Vergie, Manotick, ON; grandchildren, Sara Densmore (Tyler Murray), Brooke Densmore (Calder Saunders), Rachel MacDougall, Olivia MacDougall, McKenna MacDougall, Chandler Blenkhorn, Charles Densmore, Isabella Densmore, Ricky McFarlane and Laura Lake, Lochlan Vergie, Shayna Vergie, Agatha Vergie, Rowan Vergie. Sue also leaves behind her brothers, Rodger “Butch” Irving (Diane), Truro and Mike Irving, Masstown as well as many beloved nieces and nephews both in Nova Scotia and Ontario.
Besides her parents, Sue was predeceased by her husband, Milton “Mick” Vergie; sister-in-law, Darlene Irving and nephew, Lenny Irving.

To Mom’s dear friends, Leona and Earl Harvey - thank you for many shared stories and phone calls. Thanks also to neighbors, Matt and Mary Teed for staying close this last while and lending an ear when Mom took to “her deck”.

Donations are welcome to be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation.
