Helen  Nichols (Turple)
Nichols, Helen Margaret - Age 92, Truro, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2021 in Palliative Care at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Helen was born in Shubenacadie, August 11, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Jessie (Blackburn) Turple.
She left her home in Milford to complete high school at QEH in Halifax. Upon graduation, she joined the Royal Bank of Canada in Truro where she met and later married her life partner, Gordon, in 1950. She later worked for John E. Doane Jewellers. She also enjoyed many years as an Area Manager for Vanda Beauty Counselors of Canada. Always eager to meet new people she travelled the region working with “the girls”. For the thirteen years prior to retirement, she was with Welcome Wagon meeting and greeting newcomers to the Truro area. She was very active in Immanuel Baptist Church, Boy Scouts Canada, Marigold Guild of Needle Arts, The Colchester Historeum and others. Helen enjoyed the cottage at Shortts Lake, travelling with friends and especially, the many visits to Barbados, their favourite destination of all.
Special thanks to the care provided by VON, Continuing Care NS, EHS, Palliative Care, Mom’s many special friends who stepped in when needed and the caring management and residents of Sanford Hall, Wallace Living.
She is survived by her son, David (Daphne), Fall River; grandson, Andrew (Jane), Fall River; great-granddaughters, Taylor and Madelyn; brother, Allan Turple; brother-in-law, Robert Nichols (Rosemary) and much loved nieces, nephews and step great-granddaughter, Mikayla Bottomley.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon and their infant son, Eric.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 26th at 2:00 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Interment in Robie St. Cemetery. Family flowers only, please.
