Born in Valley, NS, he was a son of the late Nita (Carter) and Percy Toole. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Charlotte (Weatherby) Toole. He is also survived by his sons, Michael (Michele) Toole, Stephen (Elizabeth) Toole and his daughters, Anne Toole (Paul Clark), Lynn Toole; his grandchildren, Brittany, Shelby, Matthew, Sarah, Reilly (Clark); great grandson, Marshall; brothers, Willard, Earle (Fran) and sister, Dollie. He was predeceased by brothers, Merle, Hubert, Ross, Gordon, Alton and sisters, Janie (in infancy), Sadie (Peirce) and Miriam (Hazelwood).

Albert had an entrepreneurial spirit and could build, fix or invent anything. He started working at a very young age in his father’s lumber mills. He eventually opened Toole’s Machine Shop on East Prince Street, Truro, with his brother Hubert. He later started Atlantic Silo Ltd building poured concrete farm silos throughout the Maritime Provinces. He was a proficient sawyer having owned several saw mills and wood lots, ending his working career with a machine shop in his backyard garage. In his retirement years Albert took great pride in his vegetable garden, he also became a skilled woodworker, building many beautiful furniture pieces for his family.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Albert enjoyed many hunting and fishing adventures to Alberta, Northern Ontario and Quebec, Newfoundland and throughout Nova Scotia. He especially loved his escapades with his cousins George Zwicker and Wendell Carter during George’s yearly hunting trips. In his later years, he looked forward to his fishing trips with his sons at the cottage in Lake Ainslie. Albert was always ready to spin a tall tale or tell a well-seasoned joke; he enjoyed a good game of crib and Saturday night dances with his wife, Charlotte. He loved spending time with his family on weekend camping trips and later at his camp in Earltown.

The family would like to extend gratitude to Dr. Adam Alexis, Chantal Bishop, VON (Colchester County) and the Palliative Care team for all the excellent care and support. An extra special thank you to Albert’s niece, Shannon Toole, who provided nursing care to Albert in his final hours allowing him to pass at home peacefully with his family.
