Patricia  "Susan"  Oakes
Oakes, Patricia Susan (Jardine) – Age 70, Debert, passed away on August 26, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Susan was born in North Sydney to Theresa Jardine and the late Milton Jardine and raised in Sydney Mines.

Susan graduated from New Waterford Consolidated School of Nursing as a CNA and worked in the old VG Hospital in Halifax. She was an extraordinary worker and volunteer, serving on community and church committees from coast to coast and in the USA. Susan was a wonderful wife, being married to a military husband in 1971, as well as a wonderful mother and daughter. She was a longtime CWL member, Eucharistic minister and reader. She also spent many years as a Colchester Hospital Auxiliary member. Susan was a fantastic person who always searched for the good in any situation or individual, no matter the circumstances. She would arise to any occasion if there was a need to be filled. She will be extremely missed and always dearly loved.

Susan is survived by her mother, Theresa Jardine; husband, Thomas Gerard Oakes; son, Thomas Arthur Oakes; daughter, Vickie Lynn Groten; grandchildren, Sydney, Kylie and Garrett; brothers, Greg, Adrian (Diane), Terry (Judy) and Reggie (Denise); sisters, Brenda (Don), Geraldine, Sheila, Michelle (Brian) and Angela along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Milton Jardine and numerous relatives.

Donations in Susan’s memory may be made to Kane’s Kitchen or the Debert Military Museum.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2 from 12pm until time of funeral service at 2pm both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, with Cory Lunn, officiating. Family flowers only. Burial will take place on Saturday, September 4 at 2pm in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Sydney Mines. (All are welcome).
