Arthur "Art"  Kennedy
KENNEDY, Arthur Roy - Age 66, of Millbrook First Nation, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Art was the adopted son of Hazel Kennedy of Brookfield and the late Roy Kennedy. He was predeceased by his birth parents, Arthur Cope and Jessie (MacLeod) MacDonald.
Art is survived by his wife, Darlene (Arseneau); his sons, Josh Romer (Tara), Roberts Creek, BC, Jeffrey Arseneau, Bedford, Daniel Francis, Shane Kennedy (Leana), Millbrook; daughters, Tiffany Kennedy (Steve Googoo), Millbrook, Presley Knockwood (Thomas Terfry), Millbrook, Alona Kennedy, Millbrook; sisters, Sandra Kennedy, Dartmouth, Karen Hunter (Herb), Westville, Debbie Cope, Cole Harbour, Darleen Cope, Millbrook and Nancy MacDonald, Enfield; brothers, David MacDonald, Enfield, James MacDonald, Millbrook, Alexander Cope, Millbrook, Reg Boudreau (Ann), Dartmouth ; sisters-in-law, Diane Kennedy, Hilden, Elaine MacDonald, Hilden, Janet Arseneau, Bedford, Susan Eldershaw (Denny), Hilden; brother-in-law, Michael Arseneau (Debbie), Hilden; father-in-law, Frank Arseneau. He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren, Jaden and Oakley Kennedy, Landen Francis, Jayce Terfry and Osea Googoo.
Art will be missed by his childhood friend, Gary Ellis.
Art was also predeceased by his brothers, John MacDonald, Billy MacDonald, Gordon Kennedy; sisters, Emily Cope and Beverley Kennedy and mother-in-law, Joyce Arseneau.
He worked for the Department of Transportation for 20 years and most recently, was employed with Millbrook Maintenance. Art was a foster parent for 25 years and provided a loving home to many children during this time. He enjoyed moose hunting on Hunter’s Mountain, family vacations, motorcycles, reading western novels and his prized coin collection. Art also loved being Millbrook’s Santa for many years.
Donations may be made to the Hilden Cemetery or the Federation of Foster Family Bursary Fund.
A visitation will take place in Art’s home at 62 Gerald Avenue, Millbrook beginning on October 20th at 2pm until the time of his Funeral service on October 22nd at 12pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Rev. Phillip Kennedy officiating. COVID-19 restrictions in place. Proof of full vaccination with photo ID is required for entrance into the funeral home.
