Obituary for Frances "Fanny " Turner

Frances "Fanny " Turner
Turner (Teed), Frances “Fanny” Lavinia, Age 93, Belmont. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Frances “Fanny” Turner on December 13, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Fanny was a lifelong resident of Belmont. She was born on Belmont Mountain on June 10, 1928 and enjoyed everything to do with the outdoors. Fanny spent many days camping and fishing alongside her husband, Luther and in her later years with her son, Brian and his wife, Charmaine, she continued this tradition.

She was always at her happiest when she was looking after her family and always made sure to have sweets on hand for when the grandchildren stopped by. She really enjoyed her many drives with the girls, Nellie and Faye. While she lived at Debbie’s, she spent a great deal of time cooking and baking with Debbie and her sweet Sky. She will always be remembered for her famous “Nanny Turner” squares and her sassy sense of humour.

She is survived by her daughters, Florence (Bernie) Hinkley, of Ontario, Debbie (Gordie) Alexander, of Belmont; son, Brian (Charmaine) Turner, of Belmont; grandchildren, Lloyd (Debbie) Turner, Carl (Linda) Turner, Bernie Turner, Timmy (Tanya) Clarke, Bobby (Stephanie) Parsons, Dan (Kim Lanthier) Turner, Christa Turner, Cory (Sara) Alexander, Becky (Cory) Rushton, Bernie Hinkley Jr, Craig Hinkley, Sandra Wiesnifki and many great and great, great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mabel (Knight) and David Teed; her husband, Luther; infant daughter, Dorothy; sons, Lloyd and Fred; brothers, Charlie, Oscar, Lawrence and Edgar; sisters, Hazel, Laura and Ellen.

While we are sad that she is gone, we all have wonderful memories of all that she did for her family and her memory will live on in her children and grandchildren. Her sassiness and spunk will be carried on throughout her family for many years to come.

Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 18th at 1pm in the Belmont Cemetery, Belmont Rd., Belmont, NS. Mr. Cory Lunn officiating. COVID-19 restrictions in place. Proof of full vaccination and ID required. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
