Obituary for Malcolm "Monk" MacNeil

MacNeil, Malcolm Blair - Age 78, Truro Heights. It is with great sadness that the family of Malcolm MacNeil announces his passing on December 27, 2021 at the age of 78 years.

Malcolm was one of those people who worked hard and made the best out of what he had in life. He loved so many aspects of life like fishing, swimming, gardening, walking, movies, travelling and with the exception of the love of his wife, Rosalie, he really loved horse racing.

Malcolm, or “Monk” as he was known in his early years growing up in New Waterford and working in the coal mines. He moved on to own and train horses all over North America up until a few years ago. He is well known at most tracks in the Maritimes and was one of the true “old timers” that people would come to for advice.

To us, he was a great father, husband and a best friend and will be sadly missed. His sense of humour, smiles and laughter will leave a big void, but we were so lucky to have had him for all of these years. Over the past 30 years, he touched so many lives in the apartment building they lived in - everyone loved him.

He will be missed most by his wife, Rosalie; daughter, Debbie (Donnie) and son, John (Michelle); his grandchildren, Dawn, Jeff, Jessica, Kevin, Katlyn, Kailey; his great grandchildren, Madelyn, Brodie, Carson, Carter, Ezra; his sisters, Rodena Burke, Darlene Boyd, Audrey Anderson and his brother, Adrienne MacNeil.

WE LOVE YOU, DAD AND WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU…
