Obituary for Jackson "Jacks" Haight

Jackson "Jacks" Haight

Haight, Jackson David Robert “Jacks”- Age 20, Belmont. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jacks on December 24, 2021. Born in Truro, he was the son of Richard and Sharon Haight.

Known for his infectious smile and his gentle soul, Jacks was the shining star of our family. He was a son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many. He worked for the TDL Group in Debert. He had a love for sports but more specifically, his two passions were hockey and baseball. Among Jackson’s many impressive sports achievements was being selected as one of the top 100 university eligible male athletes in Canada to play at the Rogers Centre in Toronto for the T-12 Tournament hosted by Blue Jays Alumni, Roberto Alomar. It was truly a heartwarming moment for his family to watch him on the big screen. During Jackson’s high school years, he played on both the CEC Cougars baseball and hockey teams. In 2014, Jackson was selected to play on team Nova Scotia for the U13 National Championship in London, Ontario hosted by Baseball Canada. Jackson finished in the top two of the Home Run Derby. He received the award for Minor Male Player of the Year from Baseball Nova Scotia in 2014. Another of his accomplishments among many, was playing for the U18 Major Midget Pictou County Weeks for the 2016-2017 season. Beyond of all these accomplishments, his Mom was most proud of his kindness.

Besides his parents, Jackson will be missed by his brother, Matthew (Julie); grandparents, David and Gail Wilson, Nancy Rowe; niece, Everleigh; aunts, Virginia Haight, Trish Wilson, Elaine Wilson, Jennifer Jordan, Jaclyn Nickerson (Colin); uncle, Allan Betts; cousins, Jenna, Brooklyn, Kathryn, Chase, Sam, Gracie; and of course, his girl, Marlee. Along with too many friends to mention.
Jackson was predeceased by his grandfathers, Robert Haight and Jack Rowe.

Donations in Jackson’s memory may be made to the Belmont Baptist Church or a charity of choice.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23rd from 1pm until time of service at 2pm both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS with Rev. Feltmate officiating. Webcasting will begin at 1:58pm (AST) and is available at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
