Cook, Alice “Mae” – Age 89, Windsor, formerly of Brookfield. With saddened but grateful hearts for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Alice “Mae” Cook on January 17, 2022 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Mae was born on December 28, 1932 in Maitland, Hants Co. to the late James Henry and Mildred Mae (Laffin) Lively.
Mae was a proud resident of Brookfield for many years. She was a member of Knox United Church and also a member of the UCW. She loved being a homemaker and was very proud of her family. Mae enjoyed baking, reading, gardening and her many flowers, but most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She truly took pleasure in attending family gatherings. Mae was a sweet and caring person who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Darla (Grant) O’Brien, Beaverbank; grandchildren, Carrie-Anne (Charles) and Tara (John); great grandchildren, Lincoln and Ava; brothers, Murray (Judy) Lively, Mississauga, ON and Grant (Judy) Lively, Maitland.
Besides her parents, Mae was predeceased by her husband, David “Ross” Cook; siblings, Edith Dixon, Joan Brightman, Earl Lively, Evelyn Hill and Ethal Waller.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mae’s memory may be sent to Knox United Church or a charity of your choice.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20th from 2-4pm with a Funeral service on Friday, January 21st at 3pm with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Burial in Brookfield Westside Cemetery at a later date. COVID-19 restrictions in place.
