Georgina "Geannie"  Kaulback
Georgina Christie Kaulback passed away on July 26, 2022, at the age of 79. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Murray MacKean Dickie and Lela Sarah (Johnson). Growing up in Eastville, Geannie went on to study nursing at the Aberdeen Hospital, becoming an RN in 1965. She was employed at the Colchester Hospital and the Maritime Cattle Market. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Truro.

On June 1st in 1974, she married William “Bill” Kaulback. She is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Roger (Courtney) Pantos, California; Peter (Ruphina) Kaulback, Kentville; Christie Kaulback, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Christina (Jake), Malcolm, Peggy, Gerald, Cole Sanford, Athena and Teresa; honorary grandchildren, Lena Kosack (Lucas) and Simon Frohnhaeuser, living in Germany; brothers, Oliver (Sharon) and MacKean, all of Eastville. She was predeceased by her brother, Lorne; sister, Hazelle, and sister-in-law, Sheila.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 31st in the Immanuel Baptist Church, 295 Young St., Truro, Reverend Michael Fredricks officiating. A reception will be held following the service in the church, all are welcome. Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date.

Geannie was a prolific artist, painter and card-maker. She enjoyed nature and gardening. She always had a book on the go and would often recommend her favourite novels. Geannie's cats were accustomed to her gentle admonishments, as well as her tendency to crank up “Guns N’ Roses” on the stereo.

Geannie’s friends and family will always remember her kindness, thoughtfulness, positive attitude and how her smile would brighten the room. She grew up self-reliant and resilient and was always a hard worker. She took part in many church and charitable activities. She always made the most of her days.

When Geannie’s children were young, she they would enjoy summer visits to Maine, often over July 4th holiday to enjoy the fireworks. Later in her life she spent many happy hours working on her house and puttering in her garden.

In 2016, she was reunited with her son, Roger, whom she had given up for adoption in 1968 and now lives in California. She visited him and his family several times and became the beloved “Gram” to his two daughters.
