Condolence: To Sandra and Misty and All of Hazel’s family,
In every day life there are unassuming heroes walking among us and Hazel was one of those rare people who simply took on difficult tasks with practicality and hard work and a positive attitude. She didn’t expect praise or surprise for doing what came from her heart.
The losses she suffered were enormous as she saw Beverly and Gordie and Art leave this earth before her. Somehow she carried on looking forward to Sandra’s visits and basking in the accomplishments of grandchildren and enjoyijg friends and dancing and her 90th birthday party. At an age where most are slowing down, Hazel didn’t get the memo.
For those children she fostered, there was her scribbler with a page and picture and important facts about each child. She was over ninety when she showed me this book and it was clear each small person was remembered and was important to her. She spoke of the arguments with social workers when she would apply to adopt these children against the rules of the day. If you knew her, you are agreeing Hazel would have made a good case!
I can only imagine the loss each in the family is feeling. Perhaps it is comforting to know each of you has the privilege of passing on the wonderful traits of your mother or grandmother keeping who she was vibrant in this world that could use more of her kind.
