Obituary for Patricia Pryor

Patricia Pryor
Pryor, Patricia Jean - Age 88, Truro. It is with great sadness that we announce that passing of our Mum, Patricia “Pat” Jean (Logan) Pryor on November 5, 2022. Born on March 4, 1934, in Truro, she was the eldest daughter of George and Rona (Leadley) Logan.

Pat attended school in Truro and graduated from the Provincial Normal College. She taught at Bloomfield School in Halifax and Douglas Street School in Truro. She married Edward “Ted” Pryor and together they had four daughters.

Besides the love of her family, she enjoyed a long-time fellowship with her “basketball girls.” Pat was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, with more than 50 years of perfect attendance. Enjoying handicrafts, she was an artisan who displayed her talents in genres including painting, knitting, and dressmaking, but her favourites were cross-stich and ceramics. Pat loved the beach. From Rushton’s beach with her little girls, to Florida, but especially with the gang at the D&B. Pat was very proud of her backyard, where she gardened and spent hours with Ted, feeding and watching the birds. She loved music and dancing, enjoying cutting a rug with her life and dance partner, Ted. Pat had a special knack for hosting events from dinner parties to sorority teas, theme parties and, of course, the annual Boxing-Day party. Along with Ted, she took part in many activities at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26.

Pat is survived by her four daughters, Susan (Joel) Pratt, Catherine (Norman) Moore, Janice (Greg) Power and Joanne (Geoff) Stewart; eleven grandchildren, Jason (Jackie) Pratt, Jonathan (Sunny) Pratt, Michael (Desiree) Pratt, Christina (Cory) McMasters, Alena (David) Martin, Paul (Laura) Moore, Anthony Power, Brittany (Stephen) MacKenzie, Cathleen Power, Nicole (Brad) Poplar, Matthew (Kala) Stewart; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Katherine (Emery) Grant; stepsister, Judy (Cecil) Bodiford; brother-in-law, Robert (Marion) Pryor; sister-in-law, Chris Pryor and “Daughter Number 5”, Cathy-Mac (Ray) Boudreau; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband, Ted; stepmother, Ethel Logan and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

We would like to express our thanks to the VON, the staff at Magnolia Continuing Care and especially the Sand Dollar Cottage with a further special thanks to her “little girl”, Nurse Nicole.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mum’s memory to Palliative Care, VON, or a charity of your choice.
