Obituary for Ann Frizell (Phillips)

Ann Frizell (Phillips)
Frizell, Ann Florence - Age 53, Collingwood Corner. It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Ann Florence Frizell on November 7, 2022, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Halifax on March 1, 1969, she was a daughter of Robert Phillips and the late Carolyn Phillips (Dobson).

Ann and her family moved to Bible Hill when she was a young girl. She met her future husband, Michael, at sixteen years of age and the rest, as they say, is history. Ann’s pride and joy was having her son, Justin. She was never happier than being with Justin and watching him grow up. She was a dedicated hockey mom for many years and was always happiest at the rinks cheering him on.

Anyone who knew Ann, knew she loved the beach, rocking chairs on a veranda and her farmhouse. She was able to enjoy this for a short time, but always made the most of every minute spent there.
Ann’s passion was working as a support worker and taking care of her clients. Whether young or old, it wasn’t long before she treated them as family, doing all she could to include them in fun activities. She was committed, loyal and dedicated. Ann loved helping others in every aspect of life. She was always there to lend a hand in any way she could. Ann was working even on the day before she passed.

Ann truly was the best big sister that Krista and Cindy could have asked for. A best friend to them, a second mom and their biggest supporter. She was also the best Auntie Ann to her nephews and niece! From her amazing craft days with Portia to her four wheeling trips with King, she really was the best. There is absolutely no replacing her and no one who could ever compete!

Ann’s extensive history of health issues did not keep her down. Each hospital stay was a struggle for her, but she always worked hard and came out with renewed vigour to get better. Unfortunately, this time was different, and Ann is now in heaven without pain, enjoying her mom and mother-in- law, sitting on the porch reminiscing. Our hearts are broken as we wonder how to continue on after such an important person has left us, but as we cling to each other for support, she would be proud of us.

Ann is survived by her husband of 34 years, Michael; son, Justin; father, Robert Phillips; sisters, Krista McInnis (Shannon) and Cindy Hodgkinson (Neil) as well as nephews, Kingston, Lennox and Easton and niece, Portia. She will be missed by so many.

She was predeceased by her mother, Carolyn “Hubba” Phillips.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13th from 6-8pm with a funeral service on Monday, November 14th at 2pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Pastor Luke Anderson officiating. Webcasting will begin at 1:58pm (AST). Reception to follow. Interment will follow in Bible Hill Cemetery, Bible Hill.
