Obituary for Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson
Our family is so very sad to share the passing of Michael Anthony Johnson of Fall River, formerly of Bible Hill, on November 10, 2022. Michael was born on December 15, 1958. He is survived by his loving partner, Natalie Webster; children, Craig (Jennie), Brett, Erica, and Alex and Max Webster; mother, Freda (Fred) Hatfield; sisters, Barb (Glenn) Holmes and Colleen (Brian) Pinkney; brothers, Peter (Helene), Darren (Kathy) and John (Sandra) Hatfield. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Joy Bird and sister-in-law, Stephanie (Shaun) Bird, along with many loved nieces, nephew, cousins, and his precious grandchildren, Alice, William, and Bobby. He was predeceased by his sister, Karen.

Michael held various senior positions in the provincial government retiring as Chief Operating Officer for Tourism Nova Scotia. He strongly believed in giving back and did some of this through service with the Bible Hill Kinsmen, coaching his children’s hockey, baseball, soccer, and football teams and supporting his daughter at many horse shows.

His love of family was extraordinary as our supporter, advisor, head chef and Christmas elf. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends, golfing, watching his Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Bears, red wine, and good music. He was an animal lover, especially for his grand dog, Charlie. He travelled throughout Canada and Europe, spending time during the winter in Florida. He felt at peace walking on any beach. He took great pride in his home and yard, spending time outside as much as possible.

Michael’s death is particularly shocking as he passed away just two weeks after receiving his lymphoma diagnosis, showing incredible grace and strength, and making sure we all knew how much he loved us.
We want to thank the doctors and nurses at the QEII Hospital and Cobequid Community Health Centre, and the palliative team for their care and kindness.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11am in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, NS. Webcasting will begin at 10:58am (AST). Family flowers only, please. A reception will follow. Donations in Michael’s name may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Feed Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice.

He was our anchor, and we will miss him forever.
