Obituary for Rosemary Baas (Adams)

Rosemary Baas (Adams)
Baas, Rosemary Irene (Adams)(Trenholm) – Age 94, Truro. With saddened hearts, we said our final good-bye to our mother at the age of 94 years on March 2, 2023.

Mom was born in Masstown to the late Augustus and Alice Adams and attended school there and in Maitland. She married Alan Trenholm, had three children and at the age of twenty-four, was diagnosed with Tuberculosis. Our mother was incredibly strong-willed to go through two years of separation from her family and survive.

After her recovery, she and her three children moved to Ontario where she put herself through hairdressing school and opened a shop in the village of Vineland. Mom remarried in 1966 and returned to her home of Nova Scotia in 1972.

She had many different careers and hobbies. Mom loved her time with the Girl Guides and her church. The family was always astonished at the incredible memory that she had, especially when it came to our family history.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell, Inez, Emiline, Phillip, May, Ronald, David, Jackie, Marina, Jack Matthews and Alvira; sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace, Margaret, Ern, Edith, Clyde and Bessie; her husband, Keith Baas and former husband, Alan Spenser Trenholm; her son, Calvin Trenholm; grandson, Duane Trenholm and daughter-in-law, Joan Baas.

Mom is survived by sons, Scott Trenholm (Brenda), Brian Baas and daughter, Alana Burtch; daughter-in-law, Norine Trenholm. She was a proud Nana to Dana, Darcy, Rikki, Rodney, Nathan, Jennifer, Julie, Jeremy, Samantha and Jonas. Great Nana to Kieya, Justin, Keegan, Darrion, Duane, Daughtry, Cole, Kaia, Brennan, Cameron and Billie. Great-great Nana to Aubrey and Logan. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and extended family in England, the Netherlands and Australia as well as many wonderful friends.

We are so happy that she made 18 Munroe Court her cozy, new home and enjoyed meeting new friends and reconnecting with old friends. We want to thank the doctors, nurses and all of the staff of the CEHHC for taking such good care of Mom.

A graveside service will be held in the summer of 2023. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Online condolences available at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
