Obituary for John Soyer

John Soyer
Soyer, John Edward - Age 80, of North River and of England, passed away on March 17, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He enjoyed working in management and transportation over the years and was very knowledgeable in his field. If he did not know something, he would take the time to research, and create policies and procedures for everyone’s understanding.

John had an interesting career with Thermocell Industries Ltd for 25 years. Before that career, he worked with Eastern Transport/CN/Route Canada and Midland Transport.

John enjoyed many hobbies as well, while he could still see well enough: model railroads, hunting, fishing, hiking, reading, target shooting, and drawing. Dad spent many hours working on hobbies with his daughter.
He enjoyed being out in nature and walking his dog, Kane, while meeting up with neighbours and friends who helped out during his illness over the years. Dad felt he could not have had any finer kind of neighbours and was a lucky man to have them as friends.

John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret; daughter, Annette; grandson, Shawn White; granddaughter, Robin (White) Derksen and her spouse, Mikel along with their children, Olivia and Abigail. There are many relations in the UK as well.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Soyer; his younger brother, Jeremy Charles and his beloved son, Jonathan Edward.

The family would like to thank Colchester East Hants Health Centre for the compassionate care John received while he was there.

There is comfort knowing John will not be suffering anymore and knowing he was not alone. Please take time to appreciate your loved ones and share good times together.

There will be no visitation or service at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Online condolences available at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
