Obituary for Brian Drummond

Brian Drummond
It is with profound sadness that the family of Brian Osborne Drummond, announces his passing on March 23, 2023, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro after a lengthy illness. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Edward and Daisy (Barton) Drummond.

He is survived by his wife, Nordicia (Clyke) Drummond and his daughters, Monique and Tamara, all of Truro; his siblings, Wayne (Janet), Dartmouth, Brenda, Calgary, Melissa, Eastern Passage, Kenny, Marvin (Sylvia) and Nelson (Donna), all of Halifax; sister-in-law, Shelley; grandchildren, Travis (Kylia), Megan and Daesean; great grandchildren, Legend and Malik and a host of cousins, nephews and nieces.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, William “Billy”, Ronald and Jerome; his
brother-in-law, Avery and sister-in-law, Jean.

Affectionately known as “Daddy Brian” or “Uncle B”, Brian will be fondly remembered by his
extensive network of family and friends. He was a faithful husband, a proud father and beloved
grandfather.

He began working as a railroader when he was only seventeen years old and retired after 43 years of distinguished service with Via Rail. But he didn’t slow down. He continued to stay busy with a number of part-time jobs, by walking everyday, maintaining a meticulous lawn and lending a helping hand to anyone in need.

Despite residing in Truro for most of his life, Brian was proud of his Creighton Street roots and
maintained a special relationship with his cousin and lifelong friend, Romeo Barton. He also
valued spending time with Osborne “Ozz” Paris and completing their daily errands together. He was a diehard Toronto sports fan and an avid collector of music, movies and baseball memorabilia. He enjoyed socializing and playing Whist - two of his favorite partners were Debbie and Cindy Paris. He also loved Motown and the Temptations.

Later in his life, Brian became an active member of the Zion Baptist Church, the brotherhood
and the choir.

A special thank you to Dr. H. Berghuis, Dr. S. Ellis, the caregivers at Eden Hall in Cedarstone
Enhanced Care and the staff of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their care, patience and support over the years and throughout this difficult time. We also want to extend our appreciation to everyone who expressed their love and affection.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brian’s memory to the Zion Baptist Church.

A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Sunday, March 26th in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS.
