It is with heavy hearts and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Darlene Audrey (Davidson) LeFurgey, whose life journey ended on her own terms on Friday, May 5, 2023, in Truro after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Millard and Dorothy (Smith) Rector.

Darlene had a passion for life and was never one to be idle. Her positive attitude in dealing with whatever obstacles she faced with steadfast determination is how she will be remembered. She was kind and cared about others. She attended York University and was an excellent teacher and educator. Her lifelong love of learning never ended. Darlene lived in Ontario until her retirement, when her Nova Scotia roots brought her back to Truro.

Her passions were time spent with family, wintering at her vacation home in Florida with friends, watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, camping, golfing, pickle ball, traveling, crafting, enjoying music from the Stones, Beatles, Anne Murray to Cape Breton singers and fiddlers, dancing, or the simple pleasure, like a walk in nature. She was a member of Brunswick Street United Church and choir, and the Retired Teachers of Ontario (RTO), where she was looking forward to their upcoming get- together.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Michele Davidson, New Glasgow and her son, Kolin, Moncton, NB; granddaughters, Melodie (Andrew) Fortune, and Caitlin Elliott (Kyle Caloren); her great grandchildren, Haivyn, Sawyer and Grayson Fortune; her sister, Shirley Rogers, Onslow; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and her dad’s long-time companion, Marg Roode, Cedarstone in Truro, and the many valued friends she met throughout her life.

She was predeceased by her former husband, Les Davidson; niece, Andrea Rogers and brother-in-law, Ralph Rogers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 8th at 2:00 p.m. in Robie Street Cemetery in Truro with Reverend John Parsons officiating, followed by a time of fellowship in Brunswick Street United Church.
